Well, it appears the weather is changing and fall is upon us. I am interested in doing some hiking in places where I will see some Autumn-colored leaves on the trees. Does anyone have any suggestions near-ish Portland?
Thanks!
Thanks!

Re: Autumn hikes
Wed, October 18, 2006 - 11:48 PMI was in the Columbia Gorge last week and it was beautiful. There was less rain towards the eastern end - near The Dalles. Lots of Fall color. Cool and windy out.

Thu, October 19, 2006 - 6:46 PMIndian Heaven Wilderness in Giffort Pinchot is gorgeous in the fall!
Lots of color. I checked out the Thomas Lake trailhead and wasn't disappointed!

This hike can go short (Blue Lake) or long as this website suggests.

Have fun! It's amazing out there!

Re: Autumn hikes
Fri, October 19, 2007 - 10:00 AMDeshutes River, out of its confluence with Columbia (up the Gorge) is amazing right now. And Sunday will be "partly sunny" there. We will do the six-seven mile loop, but if you want to go further, it's pretty unlimited.
Anyone wants to join us? I am fat, so I will hike slow (about two hours for the whole thing, with picnicing and resting and gawking)!
