I snowshoed it today. 4 miles, 300 ft. elevation gain. It was so beautiful up there today! The skies were completely clear and at the crest you had a perfect view of Three-Fingered Jack and The Sisters. A nice, easy walk to break in new snowshoes; the snow was well-packed and pretty easy to traverse. We wanted to go see Fish Lake, too, but we were tired and wanted to get back to civilization and have a big dinner. Next time.

Re: The Isaac Nickerson Loop
Sun, August 26, 2007 - 6:52 PMSounds great! I'll check it out when the snows return!!! Is there a good place in the Portland area to rent snowshoes and get lessons (if they are even needed)? I've never showshoed before and am dying to try now that I live in snowcountry again. -

Mon, August 27, 2007 - 2:40 PMREI rents equipment. You don't need a lesson to snowshoe. It's just like walking. You do need poles to help keep your balance. -
