Moving to Portland

I"m moving to Portland in May and I wanted to try to meet some friends before I get there...

Where are the best places to hike? and where can I find a tranquil body of water?

    Hi Kandace. Welcome to Portland.

    The best place to go hiking near Portland is in the Columbia Gorge. A good book describing hikes is "100 Hikes in Northwest Oregon" by William L Sullivan.

    May should be the peak of wildflower season. A good book on wildflowers is "Wildflowers of the Colubia Gorge" by Russ Jolley. The book has lots of pictures and locations and times to see local wildflowers.
